send a piece of heART

have you ever been busted? Junior goes to throw away their yogurt cup and spies a masterpiece buried in the trashcan?... BUSTED. I feel like it gets worse every year. The millionth piece of colored paper comes home from school, or the kids actually stay quiet for 30 minutes by coloring on 25 piece of computer paper... there are only so many places to hang them up or ways store the pages until the little artists make more, its inevitable. Some masterpieces end up getting pitched and I feel like its a parental rite of passage to get busted.
Consider this random act of kindness a pardon for the piece.
Instead of pitching one of your kids' creations, send it to a nursing home. Even if you don't know someone who lives at the facility, I guarantee there is a resident there who could use the smile. We sent a few pieces from last school year to the kids' great-grandfather and while we were at it wrote a note on some for the nurses to give it to whoever they thought could use it. They might not know the child who made it but I bet it doesn't even matter- somewhere there is a sweet soul who doesn't get visitors and hopefully a few pieces of art will warn their heart.

Cost: a few bucks for shipping
